Visitors who have the opportunity to come to Ho Chi Minh City during the Lunar New Year are surely not to miss one of the most distinctive and anticipated destinations in the city during the transition into the new year — Nguyen Hue Flower Street.
Nguyen Hue Flower Street is the name given to the Nguyen Hue Walking Street when it is beautifully decorated for each Lunar New Year celebration, welcoming pedestrians to stroll and admire its splendor. The tradition began with the Giap Than Tet of 2004, previously known as the Nguyen Hue Flower Market. Today, the Nguyen Hue Flower Street exhibition is typically held from the 28th day of the 12th lunar month through the end of the 4th day of the 1st lunar month.
The Nguyen Hue Walking Street is one of the most beautiful streets in Ho Chi Minh City, located in Ben Nghe Ward, District 1, stretching over 700 meters from the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee headquarters and the statue of President Ho Chi Minh to Bach Dang Wharf. Surrounded by numerous high-rise buildings and bustling shopping centers, the street attracts a large number of visitors and has become a beloved destination for those celebrating the new year.
As a time-honored tradition, every Lunar New Year, both city residents and visitors eagerly anticipate and wonder how the Flower Street will be decorated that year. Each Tet, the Flower Street dons a different brilliant and magnificent look, themed around the zodiac animal of the incoming year. Hundreds of flower species gathered from across the country, alongside giant decorative sceneries meticulously crafted by skilled artisans. Alongside the Flower Street, the Book Street Festival also takes place, showcasing a wide variety of books and publications with the participation of numerous publishers, adding yet another delightful stop for visitors enjoying the spring festivities.
